I am an experienced counsellor who has worked successfully with individuals, couples and families in both the public and private sectors in my specialist areas of counselling. I have worked alongside and have strong relationships with many agencies and organisations including the University of Auckland where I have had a guest lecturer role for the last six years lecturing on the psychological impact of health issues.
My approach is about accepting, empowering and validating. I’m known to those around me as being warm and compassionate which makes it easy to talk about pretty much anything at all in a safe and supportive environment.
I’m trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which includes mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy and a few more useful modalities. Ultimately though, it’s about bringing together skills from any or all of my training that work for my clients, makes sense to them and that they’re most comfortable with.
I’ll listen to you, teach you and challenge you at times and like most of my clients I think you’ll leave after each session feeling a little lighter, like you’re facing a better direction.
I can do all of this in person, over the phone or via Skype. Please reach out to me and let’s talk about what might work best for you.
